Meet the Author Event, Sunday November 8
What: Local authors' book launch and signing
Where: The Barn at Honey's Harvest Farm (5801 Brooks Woods Road, Lothian MD 20711)
When: Sunday November 8, 2026, 12pm-4pm
Join author, speaker, and Chesapeake Bay advocate Mick Blackistone along with well-known award-winning artist Mitzi Bernard at Honey's Harvest Farm as they celebrate the launch of their book, Women Who Work the Waters of the Chesapeake Bay.
"I wrote this book with Mitzi Bernard about the women who work the waters of the Chesapeake and her tributaries because, in my opinion, it was past due. Mitzi and I fell 'in love' with each and every one of them because of their persistence, determination, dedication and deep abiding love for working as watermen. They are young and old. Married and single. They wouldn’t stand out in a crowd unless you see them for who they are: Hunter Gatherers in the deepest sense. They live for family, community, and commercial fishing. They work as hard as any man and they sweat as much too. Their sisters in Virginia can verify all of this as they, too, live the life from sunup to sundown." – Mick Blackistone
